In all of this God protected Paul. If Paul had been incompetent and impotent in this time of crisis, who would have wanted to hear him tell about faith in Jesus as the Messiah? He sold his land and gave it to the church treasury. The smaller boat, was much more easily handled, and would have been the logical choice when trying to make shore, especially in such circumstances. It was still late at night, too dark to try to make shore until it was light. Paul thought of himself as nothing in the total scheme of things.
