Brandon de Wilde, the former child actor, died thisevening as a result of injuries suffered earlier in atraffic accident in this Denver suburb. Although he did a lot of television work, plus a few movies, Brandon will be forever remembered as the little boy Joey who idolized gunfighter Alan Ladd in George Stevens brilliant western Shane (1953). Trust me, if this film comes on TV again and you are contemplating watching it, try slamming your fingers in a kitchen draw for 115 minutes instead.
